The Design Process
- Fact Find
- Design Specification
- Quotation
- Prototyping
- Software Development
- Testing and Trials
- Deployment
The first stage of the design process is the Fact Find. The Fact Find is a detailed web based questionnaire completed by or with the client. It not only provides the initial information about the client’s needs, but is also designed to prompt the client to analyse their hopes, expectations and goals for their software or website project in more depth.
Once the Fact Find is complete, a meeting is held with the client to discuss their Fact Find in detail. This allows us to have a deeper understanding of requirements both in terms of what the client is trying to achieve and to develop an understanding of the technical requirements of the project.
The information gathered from the Fact Find and the face-to-face meeting allows us to produce a detailed Design Specification. The Design Specification can be displayed online to the client as both a technical list of requirements or as a textual description of the project.
Once the client has indicated that the Design Specification encompasses all the elements of the project, and our Project Manager has approved the technical aspects of it, we produce a detailed quotation for the client’s approval.
The first stage of the actual development process is prototyping, typically for a website project this will involve several design options, allowing the customer to choose a look and feel which most suits their marketplace.
While the project is in development the client can follow it’s progress via the development system website, and from time to time will be asked to approve various elements of the project.
The final development stage is an extensive test of the website or software carried out by our testing department which is separate to and independent of our software developers.
Once final approval has been given by our testers and the client, the new website or software can be deployed.
